Cardinal Tagle to drug addicts: We are here for you.

 Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle has opened the entryways of the Manila archdiocese to drug surrenderees and drug wards who need assistance.

"We are here for you. Let us not waste life. It is important and it has to be protected and nurtured," Tagle said.

Tagle trusts the association of the congregation and group based restoration program "Sanlakbay sa Pagbabago ng Buhay" can be of backing to those engaging with medication enslavement.

He said the system can drug dependents regarding profound development, aptitudes arrangement, and work. The recovery system will be set up in various wards to achieve more individuals.

The system has cooperated with the Caritas Restorative Justice Ministry, Center for Family Ministries, UST Graduate School Psycho-Trauma, Department of Health, Department of Interior and Local Government, and the Philippine National Police. 

The archdioceses of Cebu and Cagayan de Oro have additionally offered assistance to medication wards who are looking for recovery and mending.

Nagbabala si Catholic Bishop’s Conference of the Philippines o CBCP President at Lingayen – Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas sa Administrasyong Duterte.

Ito’y sa harap na rin ng sunud-sunod na naitatalang kaso ng mga extra judicial killing sa bansa kasabay ng maigting na kampanya ng pamahalaan kontra ilegal na droga.

Tanong ni Villegas kung magiging henerasyon na ba ng mga mamamatay tao ang mga Pilipino mula sa henerasyon ng mga sukab sa ilegal na droga.

Gayunman, nilinaw ni Villegas na nagsasalita siya bilang isang pilipino, bilang isang alagad ng simbahan at tagapagtaguyod ng buhay.

Father Jerome to Duterte: Watch The Criminals Instead of Killing Them

Days before President Rodrigo Duterte officially and formally takes seat as a the most powerful man in the country, massive reports of killings of allegedly criminals involved in the illegal drug operations and rape and other heinous crimes has been monitored.

In one of the president elects speeches he mentioned to that these criminals must already stop and if they have relatives that are into illegal activities should worry now. Amidst this call, Rev. Father Jerome Secillano an Executive Secretary of PCPA (Permanent Committee on Public Affairs) retorted and said that killing these criminals is not the solution but instead just watch the criminals closely.

Archbishop Villegas Strongly Against Killings & Vigilantism

The Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) President Archbishop Socrates Villegas  spoke to law enforcers not to seek after vigilantism or join any vigilante developments.

Paliwanag ni Villegas, "God never gave up on us. We have no right giving up on ourselves or on our brothers and sisters".

"Jesus came to restore the harmony of Paradise. Let no one ever raise his hand against his brother or sister, for the blood that is shed – even if it be the blood of one we suspect of crime – cries to heaven for justice!"

He explained that bishops "are disturbed" that more and more suspected drug peddlers, pushers, and criminals "have been shot, supposedly because they resist arrest." One of them, Alfie "Buddy" Turado, was reportedly shot dead after allegedly trying to grab a gun from a policeman inside a police vehicle.

On a statement, Duterte has said law enforcers can shoot suspected criminals who resist arrest.

In the CBCP statement, Villegas also reminded law enforcers that society counts on them for justice and fairness.

"There can be no greater insult to the Creator than to use the gifts of intelligence, discernment, and one’s success at legal studies" for evil ends, Villegas said.

Lumabas lamang ang pahayag galing sa CBCP ng matikman ng Pilipinas ang "anti-crime war" na pangako mismo ni Duterte na ipatutupad niya sa simula ng kanyang panunungkulan.

Since Duterte's victory, there are 40 drug suspects had been reportedly killed compared with 39 on the record, four months before according to Chief Supt. Wilben Mayor, spokesperson of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
