Former president and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will finally work after 4 years detained being on a house arrest for plunder case on 2012.
Arroyo has confirmed the invitation to the attend the president's first State of the Nation Address (SONA) and the opening of the 17th Congress House of Representatives on Monday, July 25.
The Former Presidents Fidel Ramos and Joseph Estrada, who has been reelected Manila City mayor, have also said they will attend the President Rodrigo "Digong" Duterte’s SONA.
As for Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, the predecessor of Duterte, one of the living former Presidents in the country, had refused to attend the SONA.
Aquino pursued corruption charges against Arroyo in his six years in office.
However, it was also during Aquino's term that Arroyo was charged for the case of plunder and after four years the Supreme Court ruled by 11/4 votes and the prosecution failed to show evidence that Arroyo, in approving the disbursement of P366 million worth of funds from the Philippine Charity Sweesptakes Office (PCSO).
Meanwhile the other former president, the 88yr. old Ramos, became the special envoy to China, which Duterte personally chose him and being the oldest member under the Duterte's administration who has senior posts.
