Alvarez wants to eradicate SK and barangay councilors posts

The Sangguniang Kabataan (SK), the youth council in the barangay (village) level and the barangay councilors posts are useless that Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez wants it to be abolished.

That is one of the reasons why Alvarez agrees the deferment of the SK and barangay council poll which are set to end this coming October, 2016.

He also said that the SK officials are just being paid and they are doing nothing.

So sumusuweldo ‘yan na walang ginagawa,” Alvarez said, on Saturday at Leyte.

There is no need for SK, since the youth are now represented in Congress, he added.

O, meron ngang party-list na youth sector, so well-represented na ‘yan,” the Davao del Norte representative said.

Like the SK, the village councilors, also wants it to be abolished because they are useless Alvarez said.

Let us put things in the proper order,”

The barangay captains, councilors, treasurer and secretary receive a monthly salary from the government.

Alvarez needed to delay the SK and village surveys this year to 2017 to give President Rodrigo Duterte a free turn in filling the opening posts in his administration with the goal that he may not be obstructed by the election ban.

As indicated by the Omnibus Election Code, a delegating power is denied from designating new workers, making new positions, advancing representatives, and giving compensation increments no less than 45 days before a consistent decision and 30 days before special election.
