Duterte set to visit the land of the rising sun "Japan"

After his participation of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in relation to economic and cultural development in Laos, and became the chairman for 2017 Asean summit which will be held in the Philippines.

President Rodrigo Roa "Diogng" Duterte passed on his acknowledgment of PM Abe's welcome to visit Japan, amid his meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on the sidelines of the 28th ASEAN Summit in Vientiane, Laos on September 06, 2016.

Amid their meeting, President Duterte underscored that Japan is an old companion and a pre-prominent accomplice of the Philippines. 

He specified that the two nations are key accomplices who offer basic estimations of common appreciation, participation and adherence to the standard of law. 

The President expressed gratitude toward Japan for its huge part in the advancement of the Philippines, most particularly in the President's main residence, Mindanao. 

He likewise communicated thankfulness to Japan for its decades-long responsibility to the peace and improvement of the Bangsamoro Region. 

PM Abe said that Japan stays focused on its investment in the financial improvement of the Philippines, headway of the two nations' barrier participation, and arrangement of value framework to the Philippines.

Japan to give two guard ships to PH

Manila- Japan to give two new ships to the Philippines, to increase its capacity to guard its water against the Chinese, with the disputed island.

Japan, one of Philippines' allies, was discussing in Manila and said they would also grant a surveillance aircraft for the coastguards.

This is still Tokyo's promised to former Benigno Aquino III for the new on top vessels and planes before.

However, countries Japan and China had also a long time dispute regarding the islets in the East China Sea, while Philippines and the latter disputed the South China Sea.

Deputy press secretary, Masato Ohtaka said, "We are talking about big-sized, 90-meter (295-foot) long vessels. We are also discussing the possibility of leasing aircraft designed for training. They are surveillance aircraft."

Those pledged vessels by Japan are the discussed topic of Fumio Kishida the Japanese Foreign Minister and President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday in Davao.

Duterte said he told Kishida about his "soft landing" approach to dealing with China following the tribunal's decision on Thursday.

"(I don't want) to start hostilities at this time of our lives and he said Japan would do the same. They just want dialogue. They do not want further incursions," Duterte said.

The deputy press secretary said that Duterte and Kishida was also discussing about $2.4 billion loan of Japan for a new railway in Manila to ease the unending traffic.

Ohtaka explained, "This is one of the biggest projects Japan has ever embarked upon using the yen loan."

Japan also discussed about building a railway system in Mindanao to Duterte, which a project already offered first by China, Ohtaka added.

Japanese to invest $500M aquacultured products in PH

Another good news for Filipinos, this project would foresee 8,000 people expected to be employed.

Some of the Japanese companies that are already looking for appropriate location in the country are; Nisshin Food Material Co. Ltd., Yamato Global Express Co. Ltd., Yamato Web Solutions Co. Ltd., Yamato Transport Co. Ltd., Showa Denko K.K. , Showa Denko Gas Products Co., Ltd., North Japan Trade Co. Ltd.,  Yuasa Trading Co. Ltd., Dai Nippon Printing Co. Ltd., Majend MAKCS Co. Ltd., Hokkaido Ajinomoto Co., Inc., MC Food Specialties Inc., Showa Sangyo Co. Ltd., Yokoyama Foods Co. Ltd. and Tomoechan Co.

Chairman and Philippine Aquamarine Resources, Inc. President and organizer, Renato V. Diaz, said these companies have formed local subsidiaries and are currently looking for good locations in the Philippines, including the export processing zones.

Reportedly these companies are planning to produce eel, flying fish, and tuna products to be cooked and packaged in the country then will be sold in Japan.

Chief Operating Officer of Nisshin Food Material Company Ltd, Naoyuki Ishikura, said they have already spent 20 million yen or P9 million as an initial investment.

Diaz also said these Japanese investors are expected to start their operation as soon as possible or at least in three years because they already have pending orders.

The need to export would reach up to 10 billion yen initially or $100 million of which eel will account for at least 6 billion yen.  As we have known, Japanese people are a big fan of eel with estimated 30 billion to 40 billion yen market size.

Currently, the company Well Delight Corporation is already in partner with Japan of producing and exporting tuna and but may also be soon be part the eel production venture as well.

Japan will Donate P16M for PTV4

For the enhancement of People's Television Network (PTV4), Japan committed  to give 38.20 million yen or P16.428 million to improve its programs and there are major changes to be expected.

Japanese Ambassador Kazuhide Ishikawa together with Foreign Affairs Secretary Jose Rene Almendras signed the Cultural Grant Aid for PTV4 last June 17.

"Grant will cover the acquisition of programs produced by the NHK, Japan’s public broadcaster," the Japanese embassy said in a statement.

 

They said that their are new programs will be introduced on PTV4, including the 167 documentaries and the 522 shows about Japanese culture, disaster preparedness, and deepening the understanding of the human condition.

After incoming Rodrigo "Digong" Duterte decided to boycott the media more Filipinos are expected to tune in to PTV4 and  Radio Television Malacañang.

In a interview with ANC, the Incoming Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Martin Andanar said that a former ABS-CBN executive is fit to become the General Manager (GM) and news director of PTV4.
