Video: Singapore Airlines Caught on Fire in the Runway
In early morning of Monday, June 27 the Flight SQ368 of Singapore Airline(SIA) with 222 passengers and 19 crews on board, departed Changi Airport Terminal 3 for Milan, Italy.
About three hours into the air, the Boeing 777-300ER aircraft was forced to turn back after the pilot received an engine oil warning message.
The plane's right engine was on fire after the aircraft has touched down at the Changi International airport at around 6.50am, SIA said. Firefighters put out the fire at the runway for minutes and there were no details of injuries reported.
The fire was already out within five minutes said in a statement by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) on Monday evening.
They added that the runway was closed for about five hours for repairs and clean-up.
One of the Passengers told Channel NewsAsia that the flight was forced to turned back nearly two hours after taking off due to a fuel leak.
Ms Lee Bee Yee, who was onboard on the flight with her husband, said there was a strong smell of fuel on the plane.
“The pilot said he was going to turn back because the engine is leaking oil on the right side. The captain said that they cannot turn on that side of the engine or else the plane will be vibrating. And they can’t fly like this to Milan…That’s why they turned back,” she said.
She also added, “We were sleeping and didn’t think too much about it".

CEO of Cebu Pacific Flew with PAL to Avoid Delays?
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Lance Gokongwei of Cebu Pacific flew with Philippine Airlines (PAL) to attend a two-day consultative meeting of the country’s top businessmen in Davao hosted by the incoming the President Rodrigo Dugterte this Monday, June 20.
Cebu Pacific Air and PAL are the two top biggest airlines in the Philippines who are obviously rivals in airline business.
In a report, Gokongwei chose an economy class seat in PAL to avoid delays but still arrived in Davao later than his scheduled flight.
Instead of Cebu Pacific he flew with PAL “Because our Cebu Pacific's 3 p.m. flight gets delayed.” Gokongwei explained to a co-passenger.
The CEO of Cebu Pacific was welcomed by Cebu Pacific personnel and arrived around 6:40 in the evening in Davao City before he proceeded for a dinner at Marco Polo Hotel with Duterte.
