In an announcement, Tan said the arrival of Sikkengstad was a branch of the progressing military operations to support weight against the Abu Sayyaf Group and the help of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF).

Tan stated, "Simultaneous land, air, naval, and police operations complemented each other putting pressure on the ASG."

Sekkingstad should be introduced to President Duterte at the Davao Airport on Saturday night, however it won't push through because of awful climate.

The Norwegian hostage was abducted from Pearl Farm beach resort, Samal Island in September 2015, alongside Canadians John Ridsdel and Robert Hall, and Filipina Tess Flor.
