Abella to Trump: Look at the contributions of Filipinos to US

After United States presidential hopeful Donald Trump spoke on his speech that immigrants from "terrorist nations" should be barred in coming to the US, which is implying to some countries and to Philippines.



Filipinos reacted, and said that they have made deep and varied contribution to US, on Saturday.

Though Trump has a freedom to say his own opinion, Philippine presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella said that Trump should look at the Filipino's contribution to America.

Abella stated, “We’d also like to encourage him to look into the contribution Filipino Americans have made and given to the United States. They have been very productive and have made great contributions."

The businesswoman and philanthropist Loida Nicolas-Lewis for example, served as an attorney general in the US before reaching a billion-dollar firm.

Abella also said that Filipinos who live in America have become an asset to their country.

When Trump is giving his statements against other countries, he might have been talking in broad strokes and don't know what he was trying to imply, Abella said.

He added, “But it would help him, if he’s going to be the president, to really understand… his constituents, and the contributions of Filipinos to America have been deep and varied."

Trump who is known a TV star and businessman who has never work at public office but has became Republican Party nominee and known for bringing outrageous statements to the public.

President Rodrigo "Digong" Dutere was also being compared to Trump for having alike of their personality, but being a long time public servant; as city mayor and former government prosecutor, the president denied and did not accept, saying that Trump is a bigot and he is not.
