It's very rare for a President to be seen in the area of Mindanao especially in a place called "Basilan", where he go and plead for peace in the country.
Basilan is said to be the whereabouts of the Abu Sayyaf. According to wikipedia.org they are Islamist Militant group based in and around Jolo and Basilan islands in the southwestern part of the Philippines, for more than four decades.
In the history of the Philippines, the group Abu Sayyaf, are the ones who is responsible for the terrorist attack, in bombing the Superferry14 in 2004, which killed 116 civilians, recently took hostage and killed the Canadian national, etc.
On Thursday, July 21, it's the very first of President Rodrigo "Digong" Duterte to visit in Isabela, Basilan since he assumes the office. He wants to make peace.
“I don’t see anything good coming out of this war. For the sake of our children, we have to stop this war,” the President said.
Also, the president vowed to find ways to resolve the problem.
“I know the problem here, and I assure you that I will find a way to end the conflict here,” Duterte said.
