The next awaiting event for the incoming President Rodrigo Duterte is to finally take oath and be declared as the 16th President of the Republic, this coming June 30, 2016 and to officially assume his respective offices at 12 noon, Thursday, 30th of June.
Both Duterte and Vice President Elect Maria Leonor "Leni" Robredo have not yet seen each other after winning the election last May 9, 2016.
From the camp side of Robredo, Mark Blanco, member of the vice president-elect’s legislative staff, said that having Duterte and Robredo take their oath together would help unite a divided nation after the May 9 polls.
“We’re of the opinion that it will be good for the country to show unity and a united government coming in on June 30 after a very divisive election,” during an interview with CNN Philippines on Thursday, June 9, 2016.
Blanco also added that Robredo is always open for any other options and just taking her cue on how the ceremony will proceed.
